The Grandma Sweatshirt with Grandkids' Names: How to Get It Right

A sweatshirt that says Grandma, Nana or Mimi on the chest with the grandchildren's names stitched along the cuff is one of the most-loved gifts we make. It's also the one people worry most about getting wrong. Here's how to order it with confidence.

1. Pick the title she actually uses

Grandma, Nana, Mimi, Gigi, Grammy, Abuela, Oma, Lola. Use the word the kids say, not the formal one. If two grandmothers share a family, matching titles with different name lists make a sweet pair.

2. Decide the name order

Most families list grandkids oldest to youngest. Some group by sibling set. Write them in the exact order you want; we stitch them exactly as typed, separated by a small dot.

3. Check spelling twice

Embroidery can't be undone. Before you order, read the names out loud and confirm nicknames versus full names (Kate or Katherine?). We email a stitch preview within 24 hours so you get a second look before anything is sewn.

4. How many names fit

Up to three names fit comfortably on one cuff in our standard size. Larger families can use both cuffs or a smaller script. Add a note in the name field and we'll show the layout in your preview.

5. Thread and sweatshirt color

Navy thread on sand or sport grey is the classic look. White thread on black or navy reads cleanly from across the room. For a softer gift, maroon thread on light pink.

6. Sizing

Our crewneck is a relaxed unisex fit. Most grandmothers prefer one size up from their usual for a cozy drape. Sizes run S to 5XL.

7. Timing for the holidays

Allow 7 to 10 business days for stitching and US shipping. Order by December 6 for Christmas delivery.
